Outbreak of virus at hospital

SCARBOROUGH Hospital has temporarily closed a number of wards following the outbreak of a virus.

Liz Booth, Director of Operations for Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We are currently experiencing an outbreak of a diarrhea and vomiting bug, and as a result have closed three wards to new admissions and three other wards have some bed areas closed.

“We have an excellent track record in terms of our infection control practices, and I am confident that our staff are doing all the right things to contain the spread of the virus. Visitors can call the hospital before visiting to find out if a particular ward is closed.”
