Revamp at dental surgery

PATIENTS in Scarborough have plenty to smile about following the extensive refurbishments at Peasholm Dental Practice.

The practice recently benefited from a £350,000 makeover, which includes two patient waiting areas, a decontamination suite, and eight surgeries – five of which are at ground floor level to provide disabled access.

Joint principal dentist at the practice, Ronnie Aitchison, said: “We’re delighted with the renovations at the practice, and the whole team has worked hard to improve the facilities and patient experience to ensure that patients receive the best care possible.”

In line with new government legislation affecting patient health and safety, the purpose-built decontamination suite brings all sterilisation equipment normally found in dental surgeries into one central room.

“This has enabled us to create a more pleasant, calming atmosphere for patients in the treatment rooms, by reducing noise and humidity,” commented Ronnie. “It also reduces the risk of cross infection and, by centralising the sterilisation of instruments, it provides us with greater control over the process of patient protection – especially as we have two dedicated nurses to specifically look after the suite.”

Peasholm Dental Practice was established in 2009 by dentist Andy Moran, who relocated his existing business from Scalby Road.
