House damaged in Hunmanby fire

Fire crews battled to save a bungalow in Stonegate, Hunmanby from being completely destroyed in a fire on Thursday night.

The fire started at 6.50pm and filled the road with billowing smoke.

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews from Bridlington and Filey attended the incident alongside Scarborough’s aerial ladder platform. On arrival crews requested a further appliance attend the incident, Robin Hood’s Bay attended.

“The fire is believed to have started in the roof void and caused approximately 25 per cent fire damage to the whole of the property.

“Crews used a two rose reel jets, 45mm Hose, seven breathing apparatus, triple extension ladders, and thermal imaging camera.

“The incident will remain open for further fire investigation tomorrow to establish the cause.”
