Kerry Bracken-Chalmers is based at St John’s Walk development in Hoylandswaine, where she has been Assistant Site Manager for the past four months. Kerry made a major career change from being a civil servant, to taking on a management apprenticeship with Wates Group in 1997, after building up the courage to take a step into construction.

Graduate Planner at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, Michaela Corbett, also encourages women not to be deterred from a career in construction. Michaela runs and assists on planning applications for short term and strategic land acquisitions, and has been with Barratt Developments for nearly 18 months.

Kerry and Michaela are just two of many women working in construction roles within the Yorkshire team. They are among 34 others in the company, including Charlotte Shaw, engineer; Sarah Marsh, technical co-ordinator and Jenny Purple, land manager.
