A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Not only has this incident tied up fire crews for a number of hours, but it has resulted in a financial impact to the landowner.

"We advise members of the public to stay away from haystacks - they are highly flammable and a discarded match or cigarette can easily start a fire with devastating consequences."

Anyone who has information that might help police with their investigation into the fire should call them on 101, quoting investigation number 16/98908/20 or log 627 20/09/20.

Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
