Scalby Fair organisers are gearing up for a busy day on Saturday as a week-long programme of events continues.

The main fair will get under way in Scalby Village at noon, with scores of stalls, entertainment and games for all the family.

Chairman Roger Tiffin said: “There will be 50-plus stalls, with prizes for the best dressed stall.

“There is a children’s fancy dress parade which takes place at 3pm judged by the mayor. There is no age limit and again there are prizes to be won.

“The fair will have several children’s rides, Punch and Judy, falcons and hawks, face painting and magic shows.

“A warm invitation is extended to all - local residents, friends and visitors alike.”

Tonight there will be World Cup action and free food at the Nags Head from 7.30pm and on Friday there will be a BBQ and music from Soul Rida.

Friday also sees a flower festival preview at St Laurence’s Church from 7.30pm.

The main fair takes place on Saturday and on Sunday, there will be a carnival celebration service at St Laurence’s from 10.30am.
