STAFF and tots were in the pink during a fundraising event at a Scarborough nursery and out of school club.

The event at Buttercups Day Nursery and Galleons Out of School Club in Nelson Street was organised to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Organiser Clare Lowe, a trainee administrator, said: “Breast cancer can occur at any age, which is why at Buttercups and Galleons we have tried to raise breast cancer awareness to all of our staff and parents.

“In 2008, breast cancer caused 458,503 deaths worldwide and as a small organisation we hope to lower that number by spreading the word around the Scarborough area.”

Clare organised various ways of raising money during the pink-themed event. These included giving a donation for wearing pink clothes, a cake sale, a treasure hunt and letting balloons off into the sky. Clare also thanked the local snack shop for their donation.
