Apprentice chef Jamie Compton loves his job – to the extent that he has had his place of work tattooed on his right leg.
In fact, he has taken the dedication to the Blue Crush thigh high.
The bar-diner’s logo throbs blue, purple and white at the top of the 18-year-old’s leg.
“It started as a joke at a party,” said Jamie, who lives at Flixton, “and then got to the point when I had to follow through on the promise.”
He had the tattoo done in Grimsby while visiting relatives there. Did it hurt?
Well, Jamie has other tattoos so knows to grin and bear it until the pain subsides.
The former Filey School pupil has: his girlfriend’s name – Shannon – on his foot, a cross and wings with his nana and granddad’s names – Barry and Marie on his back, and his best friends’ names – Aiden and Tom – on his back side. And being modesty itself, Jamie who said he used to regard himself as “all that” has a God’s Gift tattoo.
Jamie does, indeed, love his job at Blue Crush, where he has worked for a year. He also did work experience at the Fox Hound in Flixton which led to a job at the pub. His family and friends’ reaction to the latest body art has been mixed. “Some of them think it’s brilliant, others have said I am an idiot,” he said. In the latter category is his girlfriend Shannon Lacey.
His boss Richard Egan, who co-owns Blue Crush with Antony Taylor, said: “I think it’s awesome – and it’s one way of guaranteeing job secruity. How can I sack him now?”
