JAZZ Legend returns to Beiderbecke’s on Sunday.
The seven musicians will perform their Fascinating Rhythms for a Mother’s Day show starting at 12.30pm.
“This is probably my favourite of all our shows that trace the history of great musicians through their live performances,” says trombonist and narrator Tony Turner.
“Why? Because it is packed with the very best tunes written by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman.”
Slides of the original performers will be featured in the show, along with anecdotes telling the story behind some of the musical treasures.
“This is not just a band concert,” adds Tony.
“It is a live music show, with visual archive material, and a bit of a musical history lesson all rolled in.
“The show features the rarely performed Artie Shaw clarinet concerto, original versions of Stardust and Flamingo, as well as Strike up the Band, Don’t Get Around Much Any More, Summertime, I Got Rhythm, Begin the Beguine, Birth of the Blues, Sing Sing Sing, Satin Doll, Take the A Train, In a Sentimental Mood and a grand finale of Fascinating Rhythm to round off the whole show.”
Admission costs £10 or £25 with lunch.
