Jim Reeves sound-alike at library

SLEIGHTS singer Paul Wheater will sing the songs of Jim Reeves at tomorrow’s lunchtime concert at the library.

Paul, who was born in Westerdale, has been performing professionally for 40 years.

After discovering a talent to sing like Reeves, he became in huge demand all over the country, culminating in an appearance at the London Palladium.

Tomorrow, he will sing a variety of songs including country and western, gospel and Reeves hits.

Born in the USA in 1923, Reeves was a singer-songwriter popular who became in the 1950s and 1960s. He gained a international following for his smooth Nashville sound and was known as Gentleman Jim. His songs continued in the charts even after his death at the age of 40 in a plane crash.
