Scarborough Athletic boss Steve Kittrick was delighted with his team's first run-out of pre-season against the Scarborough & District League Rep Team.
Boro won the game 2-0 at Silver Royd, but Kittrick was still full of praise for the local opponents.
He said: "It was a good run-out. It is always cagey in the first one and there are a lot of local lads trying to prove a point.
"I thought the Scarborough League team did very well, they deserve a lot of credit, especially as it was the first time some of them have played together.
"I was pleased with our performance as well. We kept the ball well and passed the ball well for saying we were missing a few.
"There were lads that played a full 90 minutes, even though we didn't want anyone playing 90 minutes, but when needs must.
"The new lads fitted in well. we'll get stronger and stronger and better and better. We wanted to keep a clean-sheet and that is exactly what we did.
"I want to thank the fans for coming down. I hope they all enjoyed it and I hope they come back again on Wednesday when we play East Yorkshire Carnegie."
Kittrick was also quick to commend Scarborough Rugby Club, who hosted the event.
"I'm an outsider looking in so I don't know the politics of it all, but it is a fantastic facility.
"They have a great surface up here, great bar facilities and great food, I'd like to thank Scarborough Rugby Club for making us feel welcome.
"For me it is a pity we can't groundshare, it could be great for the town, but I don't know enough about the situation to comment too much."
