FITNESS fanatics at a Scarborough gym swapped lifting weights for lifting spirits during a charity Zumba exercise.

The 20 burly characters from Eze Fitness, in Dunslow Road, took on a more sensitive approach in an all-male Zumbathon challenge for Comic Relief.

Put through their paces by fitness instructor Wayne Thomson-Mills the lads – and cheered on by women members – managed to do something funny for money and raised just over £200.

Eze Fitness manager Laura Baudoino said she was proud of their efforts and couldn’t fault their commitment to, what was for many, a totally new experience.

She said: “They all really enjoyed it and put 100 per cent effort in and it was a good atmosphere because all of the women stayed back to give them some extra support.

“The co-ordination wasn’t always there but they really got into the spirit of the day and had a good time while raising a terrific amount of money.

“Some have even signed up to do the classes on a regular basis on the back of the charity day which proves how much they enjoyed themselves.”
