Letter: Poor state of Scarborough's roads

While driving round Scarborough I was followed and stopped by the police.

A nice officer drew up and asked: “When was the last time you had a drink?”

After a short breath-test blow and red face, the officer explained he had been following me for some time and rather concerned about my erratic driving.

So I explained that I was avoiding the potholes in the road.

Very good, said the officer, and returned to his police car...

...You must understand this is very light-hearted - I have never been stopped by the police ... but I hope this message gets across the disgusting state of the Scarborough roads.

I travel up Hay Lane many times a day and Hay Lane is not a road it’s a ploughed field. We need tarmacadam now.
