Letter: Thanks for supporting the Daffodil Appeal

Staunch supporters of Marie Curie's biggest annual fundraising campaign '“ the Great Daffodil Appeal '“ have been out in force in all weathers across Scarborough and Filey, to encourage people to make a donation and sport the charity's iconic daffodil pin to help Marie Curie Nurses to provide care and support to more people living with a terminal illness.

The charity would like to thank both volunteers and supporters who have donated their time and money. Collectively, they have raised almost £3,500 through street and supermarket collections in Scarborough and Filey. This figure is set to grow as more daffodil boxes are counted and banked and individuals send in money raised at daffodil-themed events.

Marie Curie Community Fundraiser, Jennifer Carmichael, said: “Wearing a daffodil is a really easy way to show your support for the thousands of families affected by terminal illness.

Everyone deserves to be cared for at the end of their life.

“Every penny raised, every daffodil worn, will help continue to fund our vital care and support. Marie Curie relies on charitable donations, so I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has given their time and money this year.”
