Letter: There is not enough talent to fill Futurist theatre

There has been quite a furore in the paper recently about the Futurist theatre. In my opinion they may as well demolish it, but if it was retained as a theatre who is there around to fill it?
There is a dearth of talent at present in the entertainment industry. There is a dearth of talent at present in the entertainment industry.
There is a dearth of talent at present in the entertainment industry.

I can remember stars such as Freddie Starr, The Bachelors, Dickie Henderson and many more talented individuals.

There is a dearth of talent at present in the entertainment industry. Some would say Michael McIntyre but he nods his head so frequently he would require a neck brace to last a 13-week, six days, two performances daily season out.

Maybe cross-dressing Eddie Izzard could fill the bill but would there be enough wardrobe space for all his women’s attire?

Even the talentless Russell Brand...but he wouldn’t accept because there would not be enough females in sparsely populated North Yorkshire to fill his self-professed desires.

This leaves only Cliff Richard, Tom Jones or Ken Dodd but what would be the odds of any of them lasting a 13-week season now? (they are 240 years old in total).

Unfortunately the talent is not around anymore and I don’t think Scarborough attracts enough visitors to fill the theatre, even if there was.

Better knock it down...but £4 million to do so, seems excessive to me.
