I read with amazement the report of the proposals to change parking charges in Scarborough and was left wondering what problem this was planned to resolve.
Is there a problem at all?
The present system seems to work quite well and we do not need yet more bureaucracy ... with more paperwork, more permits to buy, pay for and process.
New initiatives should only be proposed where a real problem exists, there is no problem with parking in Scarborough.
If the council wants to make parking for residents cheaper for short stays, then reduce the short stay charges and increase the long stay charges. No extra bureaucracy is needed.
