Letter: Why schedule Market Hall work for tourist season?

Perhaps someone should tell him/her that this is actually the main tourist season in Scarborough.

Has this same person also authorised the construction of a mezzanine floor containing many more retail units, when half the units down in the vaults are already empty?

Who is actually going to occupy these new units and how are existing traders going to cope with these major building works in the middle of their busiest trading period? A plain and simple spruce up would have sufficed and at a fraction of the cost.

The people behind this scheme are presumably the same one who wish to demolish the historic and nationally importanct Futurist Theatre – and replace it with fairground rides.
