A dog walker was left in a state of distress after a teenager exposed himself before performing a lewd act in front of her.
Thomas Douthwaite carried out his “obscene” crime in front of two horrified women while high on drugs.
One of the women had been enjoying an afternoon walk with her dog at the Mere when she turned around to see the doped-up 18-year-old walking straight towards her.
The Crown Prosecution Service solicitor at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court said the incident had left her feeling distressed and had put her off from going back to the Mere.
Douthwaite, of Caymer Road in Eastfield, appeared for sentencing having pleaded guilty on New Year’s Eve to exposure.
He claimed he had committed the act on December 8 while under the influence of drugs.
At Thursday’s sentencing, Douthwaite represented himself. When asked by the bench if he had anything to say, he replied: “I didn’t mean to do what I am meant to have done.
“I was under the influence of drugs and I’m off my head when I’m on them.
“I’m off them drugs now and I don’t think anything like this will happen again.”
The teenager, who lives with his mum, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £145 in court fees.
