Lidl has announced it is planning to open a store on the former McCain Stadium site in Seamer Road.
The company made the announcement as a public consultation into the store, and the Weaponness Leisure Village, was confirmed.
The Leisure Village will include a new football stadium for Scarborough Athletic Football Club and an 25m swimming pool i
At the same consultation event, Lidl will also reveal details of its planned new foodstore on part of the former McCain Stadium site in Seamer Road.
Lidl’s move to the town was exclusively revealed by The Scarborough News last year.
On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 February there will be an exhibition of the proposed designs for the leisure village site, which will be developed on the town’s old Weaponness coach park, and the Lidl store.
The event, which will be held at Falsgrave Community Resource Centre on Seamer Road, is open to anyone on a drop-in basis from 4pm until 8pm on the Friday and from 10am until 2.30pm on the Saturday.
A spokesperson for Lidl said: “We are very excited to announce plans for a new Lidl Foodstore on the site of the former Scarborough Football Stadium.
“The proposed store will have a sales area of 1,286m² and a dedicated in store bakery allowing us to stock our full range of fantastic bakery products.
“A free customer car park with 99 spaces is proposed and we predict that the store will create up to 30 full and part time positions.”
Leisure village developer Wrenbridge and Lidl will use the feedback gained from the consultation to form part of the formal planning applications for the two sites, which are due to be submitted to by the end of February.
