A LIFE line has been handed to Scarborough’s under threat libraries.
North Yorkshire County Councillors have agreed a 12 month stay of execution to give more time for libraries to find alternative ways of operating in light of the £2.3 million savings identified by the council.
A total of 23 libraries across the county had been classed as under threat, including Scalby, Eastfield, Ayton and Hunmanby.
Hundreds of people from across Scarborough attended a number of public meetings in the hope of fighting the proposed closures.
