Scarborough's RNLI crew battled valiantly to try and save the boat which sank in Scarborough yesterday.
A spokesman for the RNLI said: "A local fishing boat, Scarlett Lou, sank while berthed alongside the West Pier just before 7am.
"The all-weather lifeboat used its powerful pump to try and empty the lower berths and refloat the vessel.
"The fire brigade joined in and at one point three pumps were being used.
"But it was to no avail. The Scarlett Lou sat on the harbour bed but as the tide rose, the water gradually covered it.
"Pumping was abandoned and the lifeboats returned to their berths, a short distance away."
