Scarborough Diving Club will once again host the Colin Bell Memorial Lifeboat Row.

Rowing the former Upgang lifeboat William Riley from Scarborough to Whitby the diving club hopes to ‘press gang’ 5 teams of 10 in an effort to raise funds for the RNLI and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at the event on August 14.

Last year’s fundraising row was delayed by strong northerly winds and heavy seas but with Tom Clark, an RNLI Coxswain and Chairman of Scarborough Sub Aqua Club at the helm the challenge went ahead, with the proceeds divided between the RNLI and Help for Heroes charities.

The annual event is in memory of Colin Bell, ex chairman and diver of Scarborough Sub Aqua Club.

This year’s challenge starts from Scarborough at 6am arriving in Whitby around midday. For details and a sponsor form contact Annie Morrison on 07877 186996.
