Police were called by the fire service just before 3pm on Thursday to reports of a blaze on Eastfield Avenue in Norton.

Teams from Malton and Pickering fire stations put out flames in a bedroom of the home.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Other people in the house were checked over for smoke inhalation.
