Man in court over incident at pub

Lee Hamilton, 28, of Pavilion Square, Scarborough, did not enter a plea to the charge when he appeared at Crown Court via video link on Monday.

Crown prosecutor Alisha Kaye said the victim suffered three separate wounds to the stomach and arm during the incident at the West Riding pub in Castle Road just before 8pm on January 21.

The main wound was to the stomach and there were two superficial wounds to the victim’s arm, she added.

Ms Kaye said the Crown Prosecution Service was awaiting confirmation as to whether the minor wounds to the arm had been caused by deliberate stabbing or the victim being accidentally caught with the knife.

The results of these enquiries would determine the exact charges levelled against Hamilton.

Judge Andrew Stubbs QC adjourned the case to April 3 and ordered a psychological report on Hamilton, who was remanded in Hull Prison.
