A 23-YEAR-OLD Snainton man was cut free from his car and taken to hospital for treatment following a crash on the A169 near Pickering yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the scene next to High Horcum Farm, Saltersgate, after a passing motorist spotted the silver BMW saloon at the bottom of a bank at 6.40am.

A police officer from the Ministry of Defence was the first on the scene and was quickly joined by North Yorkshire Police, paramedics and fire crews.

Firefighters freed the driver who police say was suffering from cuts to the head and chest pains. He was taken to Scarborough Hospital for further treatment.
