After Paul Dickenson’s ex told him he wasn’t welcome any more he took revenge by uploading a homemade sex tape of the pair on to a porn site.
He has now been told that he faces jail after sharing the video on Pornhub, the world’s leading porn site, for millions of people to watch.
The pair had made the film at the height of their eight-year relationship, but when they split Dickenson threatened to show it to the woman’s friends.
The 36-year-old went through with his threat before sending the link to several of her Facebook friends.
At Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, the Eastfield man admitted a sole charge of disclosing a private sexual film – better known as ‘revenge porn’.
“She felt angry and upset,” said the Crown Prosecution Service’s solicitor at the hearing.
Dickenson, of Wheatfields Court, told police he uploaded the sex tape after downing booze.
However, the prosecution added: “He said he was drunk but the next morning, he said if she didn’t take the kids around to see him he would send the link to her friends on Facebook.”
He carried through with his threat, with the court hearing how his action caused his former partner great stress.
“This video was uploaded to a very public site,” added the prosecutor. “The defendant felt physically sick.”
“Due to a moment of drink-fuelled madness he now admits a very serious charge indeed,” said David Camidge, mitigating, adding his client showed remorse during interview.
However Dickenson, who has a previous assault conviction, now faces a prospect of jail with magistrates delaying sentencing until February 11 for an “all options” probation report.
Handing him conditional, the bench warned Dickenson: “We consider the offence so serious that it falls at the custody level.”
Last year, a mother-of-four who posted explicit images of her former lover on Facebook became the first woman to be jailed for revenge porn.
Samantha Watt, 31, of London, took intimate photographs of a 21-year-old man while they were in a relationship.
