Temporary traffic lights will be in place in Marine Drive for the next fortnight, Yorkshire Water has announced.
The company told The Scarborough News that the traffic restrictions were to allow for maintenance on the storm pumps which were installed last year.
A spokesman for the company said: “We apologise for any inconvenience the works may cause.
“The traffic lights will be in place for approximately two weeks.”
It is a further blow for motorists in Scarborough, who are already battling with disruption in Scalby Road.
The county council is installing a new crossing and a three-way restriction is set to continue for a further three weeks.
