Scarborough’s mayor Cllr Pat Marsburg is hosting a World War One Commemorative Charity Ball next month.

The black tie event is taking place at the Spa Complex Grand Hall on Friday March 20.

The evening will get under way at 6.45pm with a drinks reception featuring entertainment by St Augustine’s School’s award-winning jazz orchestra.

Dinner will be served at 7.45pm with dancing afterwards. The event is due to come to a close at midnight.

A spokesperson said: “This is going to be a very special night in commemoration of World War One and the Bombardment of Scarborough.

“As always all funds raised on the night will be for the Mayoress’ Community Fund – benefitting local groups and organisations across the borough.

“There are some special prizes to be won and an evening of fun into the bargain!”

Tickets are priced at £35 per person or £325 for a table of ten and can be reserved by calling Irene Webster, civic officer, at the Town Hall on (01723) 232311 or emailing irene.webster@scarborough.gov.uk
