Meeting of the Forum for Tourism

RESIDENTS in East and West Ayton are joining forces on Saturday to stage their first big fund-raising event for next year’s celebrations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The weekend event will feature bonfire on the old sand and gravel quarry in Yedmandale Road, in West Ayton. #

The bonfire will be lit at 6pm, with a firework display set to start around 7pm.

Admission will be £2.50 for adults, with children going free.

Catherine Cussons, a committee member, added: “We are planning some great events to mark the jubilee but it will cost quite a lot of money to stage so we are raising funds in the meantime.

“It is good that the two villages are coming together for the celebrations.

“We had a fabulous celebration for the last jubilee when we joined forces.”
