A CHARITY male Zumba class in aid of Help for Heroes was held at Compass Health and Fitness in Barry’s Lane.
Zumba is the latest fitness craze to sweep the world and involves a mix of South American music alongside more modern hits set to a variety of dance styles.
Christina Ingham, who taught the class alongside instructor Pam Randerson, said: “Whilst the regular Zumba classes at Compass are very much dominated by the ladies, we thought it would be a fun idea to put the men in the spotlight for a change.
“We wanted to get them moving outside their comfort zone and to show them just what an energising and effective form of exercise Zumba is.
“To add even more pressure, the twenty men who took part in fancy dress had a large crowd of wives and girlfriends watching who found it hilarious.”
All participants who took part donated at least £5 to Help for Heroes and over £200 was raised.
Christina added “Compass and it’s members are long-time supporters of Help for Heroes and whilst we like to keep much of our fundraising local, it makes it worthwhile donating to a national charity when you see what fantastic work they have done for local heroes such as Tom Lawlor.”
