Scarborough Men’s first team booked a 3-1 win at Ben Rhydding 4ths in the Yorkshire League Division Four North.

The visitors dominated large periods of the first half and their pressure paid of as striker Samuel Echevarría was quick to pounce on a delightful pass across the box.

Ben Rhydding levelled on the stroke of half-time from a short corner.

The second half was very cagy, with stoppages affecting the flow of the match.

Jonny Scott restored the Scarborough lead with a ruthless strike at the top of the D, giving the keeper no chance.

Paul Whatling ensured the points were safe as he roamed into the box unmarked and deflected a shot in at the left post.

Scarborough Ladies consolidated runners-up position in Division Five North with a commanding 9-2 win at City Of York 7ths.

The goals were scored by Harriet Stephenson, who bagged a hat-trick, Kate Dibb and Kelly Brown with two each, Joanna Shepard and Alex Seymour.

Stand-in goalkeeper Eliza McMillan put in a great performance to concede only two goals.

Scarborough Men’s 2nds were in search for their 5th consecutive win as they welcomed promoted side Leeds Adel 4th to Scarborough College.

The outcome of the match was one-way traffic as Leeds powered to an impressive 8-1 victory.

Both Men’s teams play their final matches of the season on Saturday, away to Boston Spa’s 2nds and 4ths.

The Ladies meanwhile travel to face Northallerton 2nds.
