The 68-year-old, a former chairman of the town’s young Conservatives, had his Leicestershire home searched on Wednesday as part of claims that establishment figures abused boys.

No arrests were made, and the former Scarborough High School for Boys pupil denied being part of a “rent-boy ring” - before comparing the raid to a “Kafkaesque fantasy situation.”

Proctor’s eight-year Westminster career ended up in tatters in 1987, after a tabloid revealed he’d been involved with then-underage male prostitutes, some as young as 17.

He was later convicted and fined £1,450 for the offence of gross indecency. Since then, the age of consent has been lowered to 16.

Proctor, who also attended York University, stepped down before the trial, later earning a living making high-end shirts.

Mr Proctor said he wants to be interviewed by police “at the earliest opportunity.”

His home was searched as part of Operation Midland, which is examining claims boys were abused by senior figures - including politicians - in the 70s and 80s.

It has focused on the Dolphin Square estate in Pimlico, south-west London.

The investigation, which is under the umbrella of Operation Fairbank, is also probing claims that three boys were murdered.
