The 16-year-old charged over the murder of a Scarboruogh teenager is to appear at Leeds Crown Court tomorrow.
The youth stood before Scarborough Magistrates this morning where he was charged with murder and wounding with intent to cause grevious bodily harm.
He is charged with murder after Michael Graham, know by friends as Angel, was stabbed to death near Olympia Leisure, in Foreshore Road, on Saturday night.
The wounding charge is in relation to a 17-year-old victim who who suffered a serious leg injury during the incident.
Speaking only to confirm his name and address, the youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court wearing jeans, and a grey jumper over a white t-shirt with an orange collar sticking out.
His parents sat at the back of the court throughout the hearing, during which the youth remained quiet, staring straight ahead throughout.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court tomorrow.
Eight other young people, who were arrested yesterday in connection with the investigation – five males and three females – have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation are still urged to come forward.
