Music lovers from across the region will be descending upon a Scarborough village this weekend for the return of Wykeham Gathering.
Now in its second year, the day-long festival of food, real-ales and live music is being held at the Downe Arms, in Wykeham, on Sunday.
The event is set to feature a range of solo and duo acoustic performances as well as bands and a DJ vintage vinyl set from Captain Black to finish the night.
Steve Dickinson of Acoustic Gathering, which is organising the event, said: “It doesn’t seem like two minutes since we were here last. When we did the first Wykeham Gathering last year, we really didn’t know what to expect but people turned out in their hundreds to enjoy the music, the food and the sunshine, it was brilliant, we knew we would be back again this year.”
The festival is also set to feature open-mic sessions at the Tucker’s bar between 5pm and 8pm. Food will be available throughout the day with a BBQ and Sunday Carvery in addition to the usual restaurant menu.
There will also be childrens activities in the form of bouncy castles, face painting and t-shirt making.
Wykeham Gathering marks a busy few weeks for the Acoustic Gathering team who hosted a full weekend of live music as part of Scarborough’s Seafest, stepping in with only four weeks notice after the previous organisers pulled out.
Mr Dickinson added: “After this weekend it’s all hands on for Acoustic Gathering. Everything’s falling into place but there’s still a lot to do.”
Acoustic Gathering, which is on on Sunday September 9, will see Peasholm Park transformed for a day full of local live music, headlined by 3Daft Monkeys, with a real ale bar featuring some of Yorkshire’s finest beers, as well as a community market and free entertainment. The event, which marks the end of Peasholm Park’s centenary celebrations, will be preceded with a concert on the Saturday 8, headlined by a acoustic performance by 90’s brit-pop sensation; The Lightning Seeds.
Tickets for Wykeham Gathering are from Mojo’s Music Cafe in Victoria Road or at the door on the day.
