AN energetic mix of music from Latin America will be played by the Mambo Jambo duo in the gardens next to Bridlington Spa tomorrow, from 11am-12.30pm.
Sharing the free outdoor bill will be the Whiskey Dogs trio, who play authentic Americana, from old-time hillbilly and a soulful ballad to jug-band hokum
“The powerful vocals, accompanied by guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and double bass, are sure to get feet tapping,” says Jim McLaughlin, director of the Spa’s annual Musicport festival, which this weekend’s music is promoting.
The festival, from 4-6 November, will feature high-energy African rhythms, songs from the far north of Lapland, Irish soul and salsa. Acts include Goldie’s band 12lve, who were in the BBC series By Royal Appointment, and legendary South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela.
The Whiskey Dogs will host an acoustic stage throughout the festival weekend.
On Saturday, Headlands School pupils will promote a project they are developing with Cuban band Asere for the festival. For more information contact 08453 732760 or (01262) 678258.
