National freestyle success for dancers
Fifteen talented youngsters from the Anne Taylor Academy of Dance were selected, from thousands of dancers, to participate at the British Association of Teachers Dancing (BATD) National Freestyle Scholarships 2017.
All of the dancers had to perform a solo routine, as well as compete against pupils from 33 dance schools from across the country.
The academy came away with the following fantastic results:
Senior Solo Finalist – Sarah Tindall.
Junior Scholarship Finalists – Sophie Lever, Jess Nalton, Tillie Marshall, Shauna George, Josie Kerr, Amalie Ware and Megan Walls.
There are four prestigious titles to be won in each section and Academy walked away with two of them. Amalie Ware won the Junior Freestyle Solo Dance Award 2017 and Megan Walls achieved the Junior Freestyle Scholarship Runner Up Award 2017.
Anne Taylor, principal of the academy, said: “To come away from the event with two amazing awards and so many pupils making the finals was a dream come true!
“Everyone was so happy and emotional as a lot of hard work and dedication is put in by both pupils and teachers alike to achieve results like this.
“Congratulations to Amalie Ware and Megan Walls for your fantastic awards and well done to all pupils for your achievements – I just cannot put into words how proud I am of everyone!”
