Don’t miss the chance to join in two great and exclusive Scarborough News competitions next week – the Scarborough Pub of the Year and the launch of a Paint the Town competition.
Who would you nominate for Pub of Year? The current holders are The Golden Ball at Sandside for its ales and atmosphere.
If you think your local is even better, complete our nomination form next week.
And new to your News ... we are inviting readers to draw or paint an image that sums up the town in a positive way.
There will be two categories, for under-18s and adults, excluding professional artists and photographs.
The painting, drawing or sketch can be in any medium but no longer bigger than A3 (30x42cm or 11.6inx16.5in) and no smaller than A4 (21x29cm or 8.27x11.69in).
More details about how to send us your Scarborough Paint the Town entry in next week’s issue – and the contributions will go on public display.
Ed Asquith, editor, said: “Paint the Town is a good opportunity to be more positive about what Scarborough offers and why we live and work here.
“Artistic contributions can provide clever, thought-provoking perspectives on our area and environment, on its people and on whatever we take for granted.
“We hope that as many people as or possible make a submission – we are not necessarily looking for high-end art but anything at all that captures in some way an aspect of Scarborough. Give it a go!”
For our anniversary issue in the new format of The Scarborough News, there will also be a great range of reader offers. Also, don’t miss us next Thursday for a four-page picture special on the 20th anniversary of the Holbeck Hall Hotel disaster, plus extra features to come on the closure of village railway stations, the Bombardment anniversary plans and more.
