Nine-year-old injured in fall from Scarborough cliffs

A nine -year-old boy suffered leg and suspected spinal injuries in a fall from a cliff at Scarborough onto rocks below.

The youngster fell around three metres at Scalby Ness Rocks, close to Scarborough Sealife Centre, at 4.20pm yesterday.

Rescuers from Scarborough and Burniston coastguard teams were called out to help get the boy to an ambulance.

Scarborough Coastguard Rescue Team said they helped paramedics "log roll" the boy onto a scoop stretcher and carry him across the Scalby Sea outfall cut to the ambulance which was waiting outside the Scalby Mills pub.
