The store has bought part of the old McCain Stadium site to develop a store and parking facilities for 99 people.

The plans are on show at Falsgrave Community Centre and people can visit tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am until 2pm to see them for themselves.

At today’s session it was revealed that traffic lights would not be used to at the entrance to the store, something that had been of concern when Lild announced its purchase of the land.

Also on show are the plans for the Weaponness Leisure Village, which includes a new stadium for Scarborough Athletic Football Club.

Lidl’s plans include:

• A foodstore with a net sales area of 1,286 sq mtrs.

• In-store bakery and full range of products.

• Free customer car park with 99 spaces.

• Creation of up to 30 full and part-time positions.
