Nostalgia: Clarence Gardens

editorial image

A view of Scarborough Castle in the distance with the Norbreck Hotel on the far right of the picture.

In the centre foreground are the tennis courts in Clarence Gardens with a pavilion used members of Scarborough Tennis Club.

Tennis was and still is a popular sport and one of the main sporting tournaments held in Scarborough was the North of England and Yorkshire Grass Courts Tennis Championships over a nine day period in August and the North of England Hard Courts Championships at Easter.
