Oliver Barron of St Augustine’s School has been crowned as the Scarborough News Teacher of the Year 2014.
The popular educator, who has been at the school for 11 years, was nominated by no less than 10 of his students.
He said: “I am totally overwhelmed. I didn’t expect it at all but the pupils at the school are a credit for us.
“It is them who have made me a better teacher.
I love my job, and to be nominated by the children when there are so many other teachers who deserve recognition for all their hard work, is great.”
