The highly-anticipated official opening of the Scarborough Sports Village will be attended by a renowned British Olympian.
The centre will be opened by British 110m hurdles silver medalist and former world champion Colin Jackson on June 10.
The Scarborough Sports Village will open its doors to the public from June 5 with the public getting its first chance to try out the centre's state-of-the-art facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a four-court sports hall and an impressive fitness suite.
The opening will be marked with a celebratory event later that week when the former sprint and hurdler will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony alongside Scarborough Borough Council leader Cllr Derek Bastiman and Cllr Martin Smith.
Martin Russell, Everyone Active's area fitness manager, said: ""We are really excited to officially unveil this fantastic facility. This is a centre that we and Scarborough Borough Council are extremely proud of and we're looking forward to celebrating it with one of the country's most celebrated Olympic athletes.
"The open day will be a great opportunity for local people to try out the centre's facilities for free. There'll be lots of activities taking place for everyone to enjoy, both in the centre and out on the football pitch."
Visitors will be able to take on Colin in a 'Beat the Olympian' fitness challenge, as well as partake in a group circuits class, which will be led by the athlete.
There will also be masses of activities available throughout the day from 10am to 5pm.
