On a run for baby care unit

AN EAGER four-year-old has stepped up to raise money for a good cause that gave him vital support as a newborn.

After taking part in the McCain Family Fun Run with mum Alison, and “loving every minute of it”, young Matthew Fewster has donated a total of £170 raised through the event to Scarborough Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.

Mrs Fewster added: “We donated money to the Special Care Baby Unit because Matthew spent two weeks there when he was born because he weighed 4lbs 8oz, and his baby brother Ben also went in for eight hours when he was born because of low sugar levels.

“We thought it was a good cause and that it would give hope for other mothers who use the special care unit.”
