East Riding residents to take part in national highways and transport survey

As part of the National Highways and Transport Public Satisfaction Survey, a questionnaire has been randomly sent to 5,000 East Riding residents asking them to comment on issues such as the condition of the roads to the quality of cycling facilities.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is one of 113 local authorities to sign up to the standardised survey, which will ask members of the public exactly the same questions whether they live in East Yorkshire, Barnsley or Worcestershire.

The answers provided by East Riding residents will then be compared with the views of other members of the public across England and Scotland and the results of the survey will be published in late November.

The results from the survey is one of several ways the council assesses how it is performing as well as giving the public an opportunity to say which services they think should be prioritised and improved.

Those residents invited to take part in the survey will receive the questionnaire through the post but there will be the option of completing it online.

Councillor Chris Matthews, portfolio holder for strategic management at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “There are obvious benefits for conducting a public survey in this way.

“It provides excellent value for money as well as enabling everyone involved to identify areas of best practice and spot national, regional and local trends.

“It aims to capture information and feedback from the public and enable the council to take measures to respond to the issues raised.

“It also highlights our commitment to working together to deliver the most satisfactory, yet effective, outcomes for local residents.”
