Lee Douglas: Failure to finish cost us dearly

Losing Phil Watson and Rich Scales just 24 hours before this game was not ideal, having to make so many changes from the previous week’s victory was always going to affect our preparation.

Then to also hit a load of traffic hold-ups on the way to the ground made it an even more troublesome day, leaving us little time to prepare.

But despite losing out 19-5 I was happy that we created so many chances, if we had taken these openings then we could have come away from Keighley with something.

i would be more worried if we were not creating the chances, we just need to be a bit more clever and take these opportunities.

The fact that we are making the openings is a positive to bring away from the match.

Their two tries were questionable, especially the first one as it seemed to be a clear knock-on right in front of me on the touchline, but the referee failed to spot it.

In fairness the referee was equally as bad for both sides and Keighley deserved the win, we just need to be smarter when we go to teams like this who are up near the top of the table.

Keighley put in a gritty performance on Saturday, and contested at the breakdown furiously, I think quite a few sides will find it difficult to go there.

I would like to think we will be up there with the top two or three sides by the end of the season.

We need to get over this hiccup as we had won the previous four games, now we must get back to winning ways against North Ribblesdale on Saturday at Silver Royd.

We are boosted by the return of Tom Harrison for Saturday’s game, and hopefully Rich Scales, who has been playing well for us recently, will also back for us.
