Lee Douglas: Great to see jonty's impact

It was great to see another of our club's young players turn out for the first team in our win at North Ribblesdale on Saturday.

Since I came to the club, we’ve had a host of players come up through from the junior set-up and represent the first team, and Jonty Holloway had a debut to remember on Saturday.Jonty is an incredibly gifted young player, who can play in a number of positions, and he took his chance with both hands after Joe Holliday pulled up in the warm-up.The scoreline from Saturday suggests that it was a close game, but I never really felt we were in any real danger of coming away with anything other than a win. Some of our guys have really gone from strength to strength this season and keep improving all the time.Tom Harrison has improved year-on-year since I came here, Matty Young is proving to be a real high-quality player this season and a host of others have done very well this year.Isaac Faamau will be one hell of a tough player to replace when he goes at the end of the season. He’s such a consistent player and he must be a real nightmare to play against. We now have a rest weekend before our final four league games of the season. To be honest, we’re glad of the break this weekend. We picked up a couple of injuries over the last few weeks and this weekend off gives us the chance to rest up and hopefully get these guys back and raring to go come the time we take on Old Brodleians at Silver Royd next weekend. Our final games at Heath and then home ties against Hullensians and Selby will be tough, but we are aiming for a very strong finish to the season.I’ll be tuning in on Saturday to see if England can seal the Grand Slam against Ireland in Dublin. It will be one hell of a challenge for them, because the Irish really do raise their game against England and this will be no different. They’ll really be hoping to spoil England’s party, but I’m backing Eddie Jones and his side to edge the win come weekend.
