Plenty to learn from loss

Tuesday night's result may be disappointing, but if you look at it we have still won four and lost one of our last five.

For me it was the manner of the defeat that hurt. I apologised to the fans after the game and I still re-iterate that.

We will have to deal with situations like that, Tuesday will be a massive learning curve for a lot of our players.

They have to take it in that they will get no respect from teams for where they are in the table or for which club they play for.

They have to learn to deal with the pressure of playing for this club, because everybody wants to beat us, no matter where we are in the table.

We also have to learn to win away from home, much of that comes down to keeping clean sheets.

Consistency also plays a big part in it as well, but in this level of football Tuesdays are a lot different to Saturday performances.

It isn’t easy to play two games in a few days, which is why you always tend to get strange results in midweek.

We head back over to Ossett in a fortnight’s time for a Doodson Sports Trophy game.

As a club we will be looking for a better result, but at the same time I’d rather have the three points from this week rather than a path into the next round of the cup.

We’ll be training again tonight to try and get Tuesday out of our system, then we go again against a tough Trafford outfit on Saturday.

They are scoring goals and winning games, it is up to us to put a stop to that.

Hopefully the things we have learned from this week will come into play.
