Are you in good voice and want to be a part of Scarborough’s exciting arts event Coastival?
If so, the organisers want to hear from you as they begin planning the Coastival Choir for February 2016’s festival.
The Coastival Choir was one of the big success stories of this year’s festival and now the plan is to make it even better for 2016.
The choir will meet and rehearse between now and February’s festival, when they will join other choirs from the area for a concert on the Saturday. The choir will also take part in the event A Band Anyone Can Join with Hope and Social, again during Coastival Saturday on February 14.
Coastival’s organisers, Scarborough-based arts development agency Create, are looking forward to bringing the choir back.
“The Coastival Choir was a great success this year and the dozen or so performers who joined did a fantastic job and were a brilliant part of our choir concert,” said Director Wendy Holroyd.
“We want to build on that this year and create a superb choir who can once again do itself proud during Coastival.”
Rehearsals start on Tuesday from 1-2.30pm at Scarborough Art Gallery and will run each Tuesday until December 15.
They will resume again after Christmas and run from January 12 to February 9, at the same time.
The choir will be led by Bridget Cousins, who has 20 years’ experience of leading community choirs.
Members will be learning a capella songs inspired by the theme of next year’s Coastival: Celebrating the Yorkshire Coast.
