After advertising on Facebook and in local shops, there was an overwhelming amount of interest in the idea of starting a new Women’s Institute in Scarborough Town Centre.

The group is now up and running with 75 members.

At the first meeting, the constitution was signed by the group’s President, Catherine Matthewman and Secretary, Lisa Roberts.

They were then joined by Amelia from Amelia’s Chocolates for Chocolate Tasting.

Christmas Crafts and well-being events are planned in the next couple of months along with social activities including visiting a Carol Service at Ampleforth Abbey and some members joining the St Catherine’s Hospice Santa Dash.

Although the group’s membership is now full, if any local women are interested in joining they should contact [email protected]
