11 photos from the Flamborough Fire Festival procession at New Year

Thousands of people took part in a New Year's Eve procession in Flamborough which culminated in the burning of a replica Viking ship.

The fifth Flamborough Fire Festival, celebrating the village's Viking history, attracted a large gathering, with a group of Viking enactors in costume taking part.

The ceremony is to "burn off the old spirits of the old year and welcome in the new spirits".
